<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane catalyst layer assembly having high efficiency and sufficient carbon monoxide poisoning resistance, and capable of reducing the cost of the polymer electrolyte fuel cell including a carbon monoxide removing process. <P>SOLUTION: In an anode catalyst layer, a catalyst formed by carrying a metal species containing platinum and ruthenium on conductive carbon is contained on the innermost layer arranged at a position nearest to a polymer electrolyte membrane, platinum and a metal oxide are contained in the outermost layer the farthest from the polymer electrolyte membrane, and the metal oxide is at least one kind selected from the group comprising titanium oxide, molybdenum oxide, and tin oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
