<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption at a time of idling in a device which is connected to a host device via an interface having a plurality of transfer modes different in transfer rate. <P>SOLUTION: A recording system comprises a host 101 and a printer 102 which are connected to each other via an interface 103 having a plurality of transfer modes different in transfer rate. In this case, when a connection between the host and the printer is established, the transfer mode is set to a transfer mode which is low in transfer rate. The host requests switching to a mode which is high in transfer rate before starting to transfer recording data, and after the transfer of the recording data is finished, the host requests switching to a transfer mode which is low in transfer rate. After receiving a response to the request for switching the transfer mode from the printer, the host initializes the interface, and conducts prescribed negotiations to switch the transfer mode after the initialization. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
