摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a vehicular automatic transmission capable of continuously carrying out control by both of a speed change control means 130 and a hill climbing and descending speed change control means 134 by prohibiting transition to a high speed stage of an automatic transmission 16, in a situation that the finish of control by the speed change control means (a constant speed travel control means) 130 and the starting of control by the hill climbing and descending speed change control means 134 should be carried out at the same time. SOLUTION: A gradient value calculating means 140 is provided for calculating a value relevant to a gradient of a road surface by using a value of a vehicle traveling state, a brake operation determining means 144 is provided for determining the existence or nonexistence of brake operation, and a hill climbing and descending speed change executing means 136 is provided for outputting a value relevant to the road surface gradient immediately before brake operation determination to the hill climbing and descending speed change control means 134 and executing hill climbing and descending speed change control when it is determined that there is brake operation during speed change control by the speed change control means 130.
