PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silane coupling agent with its mechanical strength decreasing less with the lapse of time, and a composite resin and primer for a dental application each comprising the silane coupling agent. SOLUTION: The silane coupling agent is represented by general formula (1) (wherein R is a group having a fluoroalkylene group in its principal chain, X is an organic functional group, Y is a hydrolyzable group, Z is a 1 to 4C alkyl group, and n is an integer of 0 to 2).
