The method of measuring and indicating the pressure in the pneumatic tyre of a motor vehicle involves generating an activation signal remotely from the vehicle wheel. The signal is transmitted wirelessly, pref. infrared, to a receiver on the wheel and operates a pressure sensor activation device. The sensor output signal is amplified, processed to form a pressure signal and fed to a transmitter on the vehicle wheel which transmits the signal into the surroundings. The pressure signal is detected remotely from the vehicle wheel and a signal is formed to control an actual tyre pressure display. USE/ADVANTAGE - Actual tyre pressure can be interrogated and displayed at optional times with accuracy of at least 1/10 bars.
