摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly active catalyst for a fuel cell comprising platinum and metal elements excluding platinum. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for a solid-polymer fuel cell electrode is constituted by reducing a carbon carrier supported both by a precursor A including platinum as a metal element and a compound B including metal elements excluding platinum. The total of a supporting amount of the platinum and the metal elements excluding platinum in the catalyst is 10 to 80 mass% in conversion to metal contents. The peak strength X of the closest atom with a range of 0.18 to 0.22 nm from the platinum atom and the peak strength Y with a range of 0.26 to 0.30 nm are composed with an X/Y ratio between 1 and 10, by means of the measurement based on an X-ray absorption end fine structure (XAFS) of the precursor A.
