<p>New boron icosahedral ester, carbamate, and ether compounds formed from Cs2[closo-B12(OH)12], are disclosed. All of the hydroxyl groups on per-B-hydroxylated icosahedral boranes are converted to perether and perester derivatives (including carbamate esters) with the general formulas [closoB12(OCOR)12]2- and [closo-B¿12?(OCONHR)]?2-¿ where R is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkenylalkyl, alkynylalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or a combination thereof. Furthermore, mono-anionic and neutral hyperclose-perether species are formed by oxidizing the closo-perether derivatives.</p> |
