PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for manufacturing internal cavity optical patterns.SOLUTION: An internal cavity optical pattern includes small cavities (e.g., microcavities, nanocavities, etc.) spread across a surface of a thin transparent material. The thin material may then be laminated on a second material such that the surface with the cavities is in contact with the second material, thereby enclosing the cavities within the resulting combination. The internal cavities may be filled with air or another medium (e.g., a fluid, gas, or solid), which enables the cavities to redirect light in accordance with design requirements. By manufacturing the internal cavity optics in this manner, the cavities may remain free of debris that may reduce effectiveness of the optics. In some instances, additional layers of material may be laminated together to create additional layers of the internal cavity optics.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
