PURPOSE:To efficiently produce a polyolefin without using a large amount of an organometallic compound by using a catalyst composed of a titanium compound, a compound, reactive with a transition metallic compound and forming a complex and an organoaluminum compound. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is polymerized by using a catalyst consisting essentially of (A) a titanium compound, preferably a compound of the formula [R<1> to R<4> each are sigma-binding ligand, chelating ligand or Lewis base; (a) to (d) are 0 or integers of l-4], (B) a compound, reactive with a transition metallic compound and forming an ionic complex (preferably tetraphenylboric acid triethylammonium, tetraphenylboric acid ferrocenium, etc.) and (C) an organoaluminum compound (preferably triisobutylaluminum or an aluminoxane having >=7 degree of polymerization) or a catalyst composed of a reactional product prepared by previously bringing the component (A) into contact with the component (B) and (C). Thereby, the objective polyolefin, especially linear low-density polyethylene is produced without using a large amount of an organometallic compound. |
