摘要

An indene derivative can be used as an intermediated for the synthesis of a vitamin D2 derivative paricalcitol which is useful as a pharmaceutical. The indene derivative can be produced with high efficiency by subjecting a vitamin D2 derivative such as 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 to a two-stage oxidation reaction in a proper solvent such as methanol and ethanol using an oxidizing agent such as potassium permanganate and sodium periodate.
