PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a viscosity reducing agent for latexes excellent in viscosity reducing effect and stability of latex particles. SOLUTION: This viscosity reducing agent for latexes contains a urethane polymer (UP) comprising a polyoxyalkylene compound (A) and an isocyanate (B) as essential structural units. The weight average molecular weight of the (UP) is 1,000-200,000. The content of oxyethylene units of the compound (A) is preferably at least 60 wt.% based on the total weight of the oxyalkylene units. The compound (A) has a structure produced by reacting an alcohol, a phenol, an amine or an amide with a 2-4C alkylene oxide and the weight average molecular weight of the compound (A) is preferably 230-29,000.
