PURPOSE:To continuously remove malodor over a long period of time without increasing temp. so much around a deodorizing device by installing a deodorizing element equipped with a catalyst bed, a metallic wind path wall forming a wind path space, an air intake means for feeding malodor-contg. air and a control part for controlling the heating of a heating element. CONSTITUTION:Malodor-contg. air in a room sent by a fan 3 is normally adsorbed and deodorized by a catalyst bed 14, and discharged as deodorized air. Before the catalyst bed 14 adsorbs the odorous components to its adsorptive capacity limit, a fan 3 is stopped and a tubular heating element 5 is energized. The heating element 5 generates heat by the energization and the heat is transferred to a metallic radiating fin 12. Since the heat is rapidly diffused into the fin, the fin 12 is uniformly heated, and further an enamel layer 13 formed on the surface of the fin and a catalyst layer 14 formed on the enamel layer are also uniformly heated to active a catalyst in the catalyst layer 14 in a short time. The odorous components adsorbed by the activated catalyst are oxidized and decomposed. |
