A programmable radio which includes a programmable receive module and a programmable transmit module which are both programmed for VHF AM. More specifically, the receive module is programmed for AM and is reprogrammable to receive radio signals for different types of radio functions. The receive module receives an RF input signal, demodulates the received RF input signal to produce a demodulated signal, filters the demodulated signal to produce a filtered signal, and decimates the filtered signal in accordance with the functional requirements of AM, to produce a digital bit stream in accordance with the received RF input signal and the functional requirements of AM. The transmit module is programmed for AM and is reprogrammable to transmit radio signals for different types of radio functions. The transmit module receives a bit stream, performs interpolation and baseband signal processing of the received bit stream, and produces an RF output signal in accordance with the received bit stream and the functional requirements of AM. |
