Further provided herein is an isolated nucleic acid molecule from Juniperus virginiana, Platycladus orientalis 'Beverleyensis'or Platycladus orientalis encoding a (+) -cedrol or (-) -thujopsene synthase. Further provided herein are methods of producing (+) -cedrol or (-) -thujopsene.
