<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a vinyl halide derivative useful as an intermediate for a polyene compound having a physiological activity, e.g. a carotenoid. SOLUTION: This method for producing the vinyl halide derivative represented by general formula (2) (wherein, A denotes a straight-chain or a branched 1-10C alkyl group, a straight-chain or branched 2-10C alkenyl group or a straight-chain or branched 3-10C alkadienyl group in which the alkyl group, alkenyl group and alkadienyl group may each be substituted with an alkoxy group or hydroxy group; the hydroxy group may be protected with a protecting group; the wavy lines represent the compound to be the E-isomer or the Z-isomer or a mixture of the E-isomer with the Z-isomer; and X denotes a halogen atom) comprises reacting a conjugated diene compound represented by general formula (1) with a halogenating agent.</p> |
