The insertion section of an endoscope is provided with: a cylindrical distal base; and a hard member 212 having a small-diameter section 217 which is fitted to the inside of the distal base and which is affixed to the distal base by an adhesive applied to the outer surface of the small-diameter section 217. The small-diameter section 217 is provided with: a housing section 2174 extending inward from the distal end of the small-diameter section 217; a cut-away section 2175 cut in the small-diameter section 217 so as to extend from the distal end thereof and connecting the inside and outside of the housing section 2174; a dam section 2171 extending in the axial direction of the insertion section along the outer surface of the small-diameter section 217 and blocking the adhesive flowing toward the cut-away section 2175 along the outer surface of the small-diameter section 217; and a containing section 2172 interconnected with the dam section 2171 and containing a part of the adhesive blocked by the dam section 2171. |
