A process for polymerization toner production which can inhibit a polymerization initiator from generating decomposition products and inhibit an unreacted monomer and a decomposition product residue from remaining in the toner particles. The process for polymerization toner production comprises dispersing a polymerizable-monomer composition comprising a polymerizable monomer and a colorant in an aqueous medium and polymerizing the polymerizable monomer in the aqueous medium with the aid of a polymerization initiator to produce toner particles, and is characterized in that the polymerization initiator is one having a specific structure and having a hydrogen-bond dissociation energy satisfying a specific relationship.
