PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting resin composition which gives a varnish excellent in fixing power at a high temperature and contains neither a cobalt compound nor a manganese compound, and a coil insulated with this composition. SOLUTION: The thermosetting resin composition contains (A) an unsaturated polyester resin, (B) a polymerizable monomer, (C) iron octenate or iron naphthenate, and (D) a dialkyl peroxide. The coil is insulated with the composition.
