PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound useful as a dye, and a method of manufacturing a polarizing film or liquid crystal display using the compound.SOLUTION: A novel compound represented by formula B10 is suitable for combination with a liquid crystal material and exhibits a high dichroic ratio and excellent compatibility with a liquid crystal (LC) material.
