A method for supporting a drive shaft, especially for a wind turbine, has the horizontal shaft supported by a toroidal roller bearing (10) at the blade end and with a planetary reduction gearing (20) at the other end. The shaft is connected to the planetary carriers. The toroidal bearing and the gearbox are mounted on a housing which has a rotating mounting on the top of the support mast. Elastomer mountings isolate the gearbox from vibrations.
