<p>The device has a smooth-walled gas generator (2) inserted into a gas bag (1) through an opening and projecting from the gas bag with an end. The gas generator is locked at the gas bag by a clamping mechanism (4) that fixes the gas bag extensively at the gas generator. A fishing plate (3) is arranged at the gas bag, and has a locating hole for a shouldered end of the gas generator. The shouldered end projects from the gas bag. The fishing plate is fixed to a shoulder (24) of the generator in a positive manner. The plate is sewn or welded on the gas bag.</p>
