PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of providing a unique correspondence relation between a start of opening of an inlet valve and a valve stroke sensor. SOLUTION: In the electronic device for controlling an inlet valve of an internal combustion engine having a means for forming a signal indicating an air quantity inducted by the internal combustion engine, the inlet valve is variable and can be completely closed. The electronic control device keeps the inlet valve closed in an engine brake drive status, monitors whether or not the signal indicating the air quantity inducted by the internal combustion engine is pulsating at more than a predetermined quantity, and regards the inlet valve in such an overrun state as that in a non-sealing state.
