PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water-based ink improving ink charging properties to an ink absorbing body while maintaining previously designed ink performance.

SOLUTION: In use, the water-based ink is charged in an ink cartridge, wherein all the ink stored in the ink cartridge is held by capillary force of the ink absorbing body composed of polyolefin fibers. The water-based ink comprises at least a surfactant with an HLB value of 11-18 determined by the Griffin method, and an 8-12C monohydric alcohol in amount of 20-500 ppm.
