PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely and easily control various functions mounted on a portable terminal. SOLUTION: Both a portable terminal 10 and a terminal control server 20 store a mode definition file. When the terminal control server 20 transmits to the portable terminal 10 one piece of mode specification information recorded in a mode definition file, the portable terminal 10 limits functions on the basis of the mode specification information. The mode definition file records a plurality of mode specification information obtained by combining information individually showing each availability of the various functions of the portable terminal 10, so that the portable terminal 10 easily limits each availability of the various functions on the basis of the mode specification information received by the terminal control server 20. In addition, the terminal control server 20 uses the mode specification information to remotely and easily limit each availability of the various functions of the portable terminal 10.
