PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter which enables a sedimentation state of soot to securely be detected by measuring pressure loss.SOLUTION: A honeycomb filter 100 comprises a columnar honeycomb structure part 10 having a porous partition wall 1 that divides a plurality of cells 2 extending from an inflow end face 11 to an outflow end face 12. A part of the plurality of cells 2 are inflow cells 2a, and the remaining cells are outflow cells 2b, the inflow cells 2a and the outflow cells 2b being arranged to be adjacent to one another. In a cross section orthogonal to a direction where the cells 2 extend, the inflow cell 2a is a recess polygon having eight or more apices which has four or more recess vertices when an internal angle makes a projection vertex of a vertex of below 180°, and the internal angle makes a recess vertex of a vertex of exceeding 180° with the total of areas of projected regions being 80 to 400% of the area of the maximum inscribed circle of the inflow cell 2a. In two adjacent cells 2, the shape of the outer peripheral part of each of cells 2 opposed across the partition wall 1 is a complementary shape.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
