PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which gives an optical disk substrate enhanced in antistaticity, improved in coloring matter-coating properties and excellent in hue and resistance to wet heat. SOLUTION: The aromatic polycarbonate is obtained by a transesterification reaction between an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a dicarbonate and contains 0.1-20 wt.ppm, based on the aromatic polycarbonate, of a nonionic acidic compound having a pKa value of 2 or less.
