PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner with a built-in electrostatic atomizer, having improved safety. SOLUTION: The air cleaner comprises an applying electrode 2 for applying voltage to water to be atomized, a water absorber 4 contacting the water and having an atomizing part at one end, and a counter electrode 3 opposed to the atomizing part of the water absorber 4. Herein, the electrostatic atomizer 1 is arranged in a housing for electrostatic atomization of the water absorbed by the water absorber 4 from the atomizing part of the water absorber 4. One electrode connected to the earth side out of the applying electrode 2 and the counter electrode 3 in the electrostatic atomizer 1 is arranged closer to an opening portion opening near the electrostatic atomizer in the housing than the other electrode.
