PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder in which a feeding belt is more easily cleaned than in the conventional manner. SOLUTION: The ADF is equipped with: the feeding belt 61 arranged to be opposed to the contact glass of a copying machine and feeding an original; a reading entrance roller and a reading exit roller provided separately from the feeding belt 61 and feeding the original; and a transmission part for transmitting the driving force of a reading motor to the feeding belt 61, the reading entrance roller and the reading exit roller. The transmission part has a one-way clutch 76 for transmitting the driving force only to the feeding belt 61 out of the feeding belt 61, the reading entrance roller and the reading exit roller. The one-way clutch 76 idles when the feeding belt 61 is rotated by external load in a direction shown by an arrow 61a being the same direction as in the case that the feeding belt 61 is rotated by the driving force of the reading motor.
