PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce white smoke generated when an engine is running at a rated speed. SOLUTION: This white smoke reduction device of a diesel engine comprises a voltage detector VR detecting the state of a diesel engine 3 running at the rated speed and outputting signals, a current detector CR detecting that the loaded state of the generator 4 is equal to or less than a set value, and an electric circuit 30 flowing the output of the generator 4 to an electric heater 16 assembled in the exhaust pipe 13 of the diesel engine 3 by output signals from the voltage detector VR and signals from the current detector CR. The temperature of the exhaust pipe 13 is raised by the electric heater 16 to vaporize and burn unburned gas in exhaust gas. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
