a packet receiving unit configured to receive a packet flowing in a communication network; a registration unit configured to register one or more devices connected to the communication network; and a software specification unit configured to specify a software application installed in a registered device among the one or more registered devices, on the basis of information regarding a file contained in the packet, the packet being transmitted or received by the registered device, wherein the software specification unit is further configured to specify the software application on the basis of information indicating that content of a file that contains information regarding a file contained in a packet transmitted from the registered device has been obtained by editing content of a file that contains information regarding a file contained in a packet received by the registered device.
