A flexible display device according to the change of a display area and a method thereof are provided to calculate the start point by means of the center point and size information of the changed display area and determine the display area at the entire image with reference to the calculated result. A key input member(10) includes plural input keys including direction keys. A memory(20) stores multimedia data such as image data stored by a user. A location calculation member(30) calculates the start point of the changed display area by means of change information of image data and size information of the display area. When the display area is moved according to the manipulation of the direction keys, a screen display member(40) transmits the change information of the display area to the location calculation member, reads and decodes the image data as much as the size of the display area from the memory and displays the decoded data on a screen(50).
