<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device for specifying the coordinate components (location coordinates) at locations surely selected regardless of use circumstances without complicating configurations. <P>SOLUTION: A capacity detecting part 1 is configured of a laminated structure constituted of a first conductive layer 12, an insulating layer 14 and a mesh-shaped second conductive layer 15. Also, a predetermined potential difference is generated between the first conductive layer 12 and the second conductive layer 15. Thus, it is possible to always form a current loop between the first and second conductive layers 12 and 15. Therefore, it is possible to surely specify position coordinates Px an Py of a contact object 6 regardless of use circumstances.
