A method and apparatus for communication of information along electric power lines. Control messages are generated and transferred between a switch (8) and an associated load (12) coupled by an electric conductor power line (18). The method includes a controller (14) capable of modifying at least a portion of the shape of an electric power wave, by cutting at least a portion of the wave supplied on the electrical conductor, without adversely affecting operation of the load. The modified wave is received by a load controller (16) which identifies the fact that the wave has been modified. It then decodes the command message in the modified wave, and performs the required operation on load (12). |
