Method and apparatus to control modular asynchronous contactors

A modular asynchronous contactor assembly (88) includes a contactor (90A-C) for each phase (A, B, C) or pole of an electrical device. The contactor assembly (88) is applicable as both a switching device and an isolation or load protection device. As such, each contactor (90A-C) is constructed so that each includes multiple contact assemblies (96A-C, 98A-C). Moreover, the contactors (90A-C) within a single contactor assembly (88) or housing can be independently controlled so that the contacts (96A-C, 98A-C) of one contactor (90A-C) can be opened without opening the contacts (96A-C, 98A-C) of the other contactors (90A-C) of the contactor assembly (88).
