摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compactly compose a hydraulic servo mechanism of a brake element in an axial direction in an automatic transmission provided with the brake element having two oil pressure chambers. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic transmission is provided with a piston cylinder 72 fixed to a transmission case 101, a piston 77 is slidably housed in the piston cylinder 72, the piston cylinder 72 is formed into a substantially E-shape with a cross sectional shape opened to a rear side by an inner circumference 72a, an outer circumference 72b, and a middle circumference 72c partitioning the circumference faces to the outside and the inside, the piston 77 is formed as a substantially U-shape with a cross sectionally shape opened at a front side by an inner circumference 77a fit in a space between the inner circumference face 72a and the middle circumference face 72c of the piston cylinder 72, and an outer circumference 77b fit in a space between an outer circumference face 72b and the middle circumference 72c. This configuration forms an inner side oil pressure chamber 78<SB>1</SB>and an outer side oil pressure chamber 78<SB>2</SB>overlapping in the inside and the outside of a radial direction in the same portion in an axial direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p>
