<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide equipment for detecting an object which can prevent erroneous calculation of a relative speed caused by a change in a detecting point and can enhance the accuracy of detection of the object. <P>SOLUTION: The equipment for detecting the object has a laser radar 1, a grouping part 31 which groups detecting points estimated as the same object out of a plurality of produced detecting points, and a relative speed calculating part 32 which averages distances between each detecting point included in the same group and the driver's own vehicle and calculates the relative speed of the object to the driver's own vehicle on the basis of a difference on a time basis between the averaged distances. The relative speed calculating part 32 maintains the relative speed calculated immediately before the number of the detecting points included in the same group changes, in the case when the number of the points changes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
