<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device which can correctly detect the inclination of a carriage in the height direction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image formation device includes the carriage 5 which is equipped with a recording head 6 having a nozzle for discharging a liquid droplet, and moved and scanned in a main scanning direction, first and second marks arranged in positions of different heights at a side located opposite to the nozzle face 6n of the recording head 6, a mark reading sensor 33 which is installed in the carriage 5 and detects the first and second marks, and a means which detects the inclination of the carriage 5 in the height direction with respect to a form conveyance surface in the main scanning direction from the detection result of the mark reading sensor 33.
