A connector that is configured to be inserted within a cavity (18) of a shroud (14) defined by a mating connector along a longitudinal axis, including a connector body (16) which defines a first resilient member (20) and a first wedge member (44) that is configured to urge the first resilient member (20) into compressive contact with the shroud (14) of the mating connector along a vertical or longitudinal axis. The connector may include a plurality of pairs ot resilient members (20) and wedge members (44) to provide compressive contact along more than one axis. The wedge members (44) may be incorporated into a connector position assurance device (CPA) (38).
