The current collector (3) is carried on a support arm (1) with which it is raised and lowered and has a contact structure in the form of a ring shaped or extended quadrilateral. A motor driven shaft (4) through a bevel gear train (7,8) drives rollers (11). These act on a ring (10) carrying the current collector to rotate it continuously once it has been raised into position against the catenary wire.
