摘要 A system and method for providing a number of remote vendors with the ability to sell products and services to buyers using a communications network and one or more service centers. Buyers and remote vendors communicate over the communications network, which is typically the Internet, but could be any other kind of communication system (e.g. the phone system). Each service center is adapted to provides a number of sales services to the remote vendors. Specifically, each service center can include a display showroom where sample products and associated advertising materials of remote vendors can be physically displayed. Buyers can visit and physically examine the products and services of the vendor at the service center. The service center can also contains facilities including pick-up and drop-off centers, an assembly center, a financing center, a buyer measurement center, and a vendor access center to offer the remote vendors provides other pre-sale and post-sale services. The pick-up and drop-off center allows buyers to pick-up purchased wares and to drop off returned wares. The assembly center allows remote vendors to provide buyers with the option of having in-store assembly of purchased products. The financing center provides various credit and collection services to remote vendors such as allowing vendors to accept cash sales from buyers. The buyer measurement center allows for the remote measurement of the buyers body and/or related item for customized tailoring or ordering purposes. Finally, the vendor access center allows buyers to have access to enhanced internet computerized or kiosk equipment for viewing of additional promotional materials from the remote vendors.
