PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar speaker wherein a voice coil provided in a vibration membrane is not prone to wire breakage caused by metal fatigue. SOLUTION: A planar speaker comprises a vibration membrane 114 having a volute voice coil 118 on both surfaces or one surface of an insulation base film 116, and a permanent magnet associated with the voice coil, wherein the portion y1, y2 of the vibration membrane corresponding to the loop of the primary vibration mode or secondary vibration mode is reinforced by a rigidity imparting member 138.
