The invention relates to a novel modification to cover systems currently used for disposable cannulated hypodermic needles and similar. The invention has been ergonomically designed with a wide bell-shaped opening which prevents the fingers handling the needle from being pierced accidentally and reorients an incorrectly-positioned needle in the correct direction, in full accordance with biosafety regulations, until the needle has been fully inserted into the guard.
