A clutch, which is used by being incorporated in a power transfer unit that obtains torque from a first shaft that is able to rotate around the shaft to a second shaft that is coaxial therewith, is provided with: a first clutch member that is joined to the first shaft so as to be driven; a second clutch member that engages with the second shaft, faces the first clutch member in the direction of said shaft, and is capable of moving in the direction of said shaft from a first position that is separated from the first clutch member to a second position in which the second clutch member meshes with the first clutch member; a pressing part extending from the second clutch member; and a mechanical switch that is operated by abutting against the pressing part.
