PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in cushioning property, having a projection to softly fit the skin of a user, and preventing stuffiness and ickiness. SOLUTION: The absorbent article 1 includes: a surface sheet 21; a leak prevention sheet 3; and absorption layers 4. The absorption layers 4 includes: a lower absorption layer 41, an upper absorption layer 42 positioned at the side of skin abutment surface from the lower absorption layer 41 and smaller than the lower absorption layer 41; and a cushion layer 43 arranged between the lower and upper absorption layers 41, 42. The lower and upper absorption layers 41, 42 are composed of a fiber aggregation body defining hydrophilic fiber as a main body. The upper absorption layer 42 is lower in Klemm water absorption than the lower absorption layer 41 and lower in a liquid holding quantity per unit weight than the lower absorption layer 41.
