The device has a tightener integrated into the belt shaft, whereby the shaft body is hollow and a drive unit and a driven piston are arranged in the cavity. The piston (23) can move along a threaded guide rod (18) extending through the shaft body and is connected to the shaft body so linear piston movement is converted into shaft body rotation. The guide rod is rotatably mounted on the shaft body and is connected at one end to a profile head (17) forming a component of the belt- and/or vehicle-sensitive controllable locking system for the belt shaft.
