PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rain shielding device for an automobile that secures a sufficient space of sheltering from the rain, allows getting in/out of an automobile without getting wet in the rain, and eliminate the need for carrying a wet umbrella into the cabin. SOLUTION: The rain shielding device has a support shaft 21, a fixed ring 22 fixed at one end 21a of the support shaft 21, a sliding runner 23 sliding on the support shaft 21 that serves as a guide, umbrella ribs 24 rotatably connected to the fixed ring 22 and the sliding runner 23, and a umbrella cloth 25 stretched on the umbrella ribs 24. The rain shielding device is also provided with an umbrella 11 covering the upper part of an entrance, a holding part 12 holding the other end of the support shaft 21 of the umbrella 11, a support shaft driving part 13 disposed on the other end 21b side of the support shaft 21 and driving the support shaft 21 of the umbrella 11 to an upright state and to a laid-down state leaning in a direction opposite to the traveling direction of the automobile, and an umbrella opening/closing part 14 opening/closing the umbrella 11 by sliding the sliding runner 23 of the umbrella 11 when the umbrella 11 is in the upright state.
