PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat a fluid by irradiation with an alpha ray with a low-fluid circulation resistance and a high treatment efficiency. SOLUTION: A holding core member 6 is made of a heat-resistant material and formed into a grid or mesh having squares or spaces allowing the fluid to pass through, and a fixing material consisting of a heat-resistant coating or an adhesive agent is applied or deposited on the surface of the holding core member 6 to form a fixing layer 8. A fine granular or powdery alpha ray radiation material 7 consisting primarily of thorium oxide is deposited on the fixing layer 8, and the alpha ray emitting material 7 and the fixing layer 8 are burned at a specified temperature to fix the holding core material 6. The holding core member 6 is made of a metallic wire mesh made of copper, stainless steel or other metals. The distance between wires of the mesh or grid is 5-30 mm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
