The present invention provides a novel Lactobacillus strain isolated from kimchi. A particular Bacillus strain according to the present invention is very safe since the strain is isolated from kimchi, and has various functionalities, such as excellent anti-obesity activity, blood cholesterol lowering activity, blood neutral lipid lowering activity, or anti-oxidative activity. Therefore, the particular Bacillus strain according to the present invention can be used as an ingredient for a food and drug material useful for preventing, alleviating, or treating diseases, such as obesity, fatty liver, type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular diseases, atherosclerosis, and lipid-related metabolic syndrome. Further, a product obtained by fermenting soybeans, Codonopsis lanceolata, ginseng, and Cornus officinalis seeds with the particular Bacillus strain according to the present invention or an extract thereof can also be used as a food and drug material useful for preventing, alleviating, or treating obesity or obesity-related diseases. |
