A group communication method and a server are disclosed in the present invention which relates to the field of communications, and the problems of wireless resources waste resulted from the occupation of bandwidth resources by group communication and the limited number of supported groups could be solved. The method is: receiving a communication request of a multicast group by a server, selecting a first multicast bearer from a number m of pre-established multicast bearers, establishing the mapping relationship between the first multicast bearer and the multicast group by the server, and transmitting group communication data through a first multicast group. The embodiments of the present invention are used in group communications. |
