PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce image defects caused by a difference in velocities among a plurality of photosensitive drums.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes: a plurality of rotatable photosensitive drums 21; a light scanning device 101 for emitting a plurality of light beams, configured to scan surfaces of the plurality of drums with a plurality of light beams LB and to form a plurality of electrostatic latent images; a plurality of developing devices 23 for developing the plurality of electrostatic latent images to form a plurality of toner images; an intermediate transfer body 13 to which the plurality of toner images is transferred; and a velocity detecting unit 203 for detecting velocities of the plurality of photosensitive drums. The light scanning device has a plurality of rotary polygon mirrors 305 to deflect the plurality of light beams so as to scan the respective surfaces of the plurality of photosensitive drums with the plurality of light beams, and determines target rotational speeds of the respective rotary polygon mirrors on the basis of the maximum of velocities of the plurality of photosensitive drums detected by the velocity detecting unit so as to adjust relative positions of the plurality of toner images to be transferred onto the intermediate transfer body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
